As a Producer, Director, and Cinematographer for documentary television, including The First 48, Live Rescue, and Crime 360, I've seen the challenges law enforcement agencies face keeping our communities safe.  I created Programmtaic Investigations as a way to help agencies connect with their communities in a modern digital world. It seems that now, more than ever, LEA needs a trusted resource to help tell their own stories in a way that engages their communities and helps their agencies thrive.

With LEA  facing a recruitment challenge across the country, I wanted to help by producing professional high-quality, documentary-style recruitment marketing video campaigns that would show viewers the exciting and rewarding careers that law enforcement has to offer. I believe that by creating quality, smart, and engaging video content, law enforcement agencies are more likely to attract recruits of similar caliber.

 

But the Digital Canvass™ is the origin story of Programmatic Investigations and it continues to be a  project I am passionate about.

 

One evening, after a day producing a true crime television series, I was back at my hotel unwinding and waiting for food delivery. I was relaxed and comfortable but my mind kept thinking of the family member who wept during our entire interview earlier that day. She had texted to say she was still a wreck but wanted to thank me anyway. She said it meant a lot to have her loved one remembered.

 

A week earlier I spoke with a family who was too poor to buy a headstone for their child's grave. The cost was likely less than my per diem for the month.

 

I felt like I could do more to help.

This is why I developed the Digital Canvass™, a social media tool to help get violent criminals off our streets and to help bridge the communication gap between investigators, communities, and witnesses. It's my goal that communities and LEA will use this innovative content tool to generate tips for some of their toughest cases. In the era of COVID-19, it's more relevant than ever for keeping both investigators and the community safe.

 

Our Pilot Campaign with the San Bernardino Police Department provided exciting results.
